As of April 2026, Bethel has called John Byl to be our pastor. As we await denomination proceedings, Pastor Byl will fill our pulpit as stated supply.
After graduating with an agriculture degree in 1981, John Byl married Martha and together they started a family, eventually having 7 children. The family enjoyed farm life for years in Canada and Wisconsin before John felt the call to go into ministry. He was among the first class of graduates from Puritan Reformed Theological Seminary in 1999.
Since then, he has used his theological training to train pastors in South Africa and plant churches in Virginia and Michigan with the Heritage Reformed Church, taught and preached in independent and Christian Reformed congregations, and maintained a tent-making career in commercial painting while ministering with pulpit supply.
